As the company’s President, he is responsible for heading one of the most active middle-market investment sales teams in the Northeast. Since founding the firm, UMF has completed over 1,300 transactions totaling over $2 Billion in sales. Rich brings extensive experience as an owner and developer of multifamily properties to UMF and applies his experience daily to ongoing transactions. Rich attended Northeastern University for Civil Engineering. Rich’s two sons, Matt and Kurt, are members of the UMF team.
Senior Director
kcawley@umf.comKurt Cawley is the Senior Director of UMF's Boston Office, representing owners of multifamily properties throughout Greater Boston. Kurt joined UMF in 2014 and has taken on significant assignments, including the sale of large multifamily portfolios, project-based Section 8 properties, tax credit properties, and mixed-use assets. Prior to joining the firm, Kurt worked at Metropolitan Valuation Services where he was responsible for the valuation of commercial real estate projects in New York City and the surrounding boroughs. Kurt received his B.A. in American Studies at Colby College where he was a member of the Colby Football team.

dmason@umf.comDan Mason is a Senior Associate at United Multi Family and represents owners in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. Dan is a valued team member and has completed a number of transactions since joining UMF in 2018. Dan has been in the real estate industry since 2001, working as an investor, broker, and manager of multifamily and mixed-use commercial properties across the Northeast. Being a landlord himself for the past twenty years, Dan brings additional market and building knowledge to the owners he represents.

njasinski@umf.comNick is a Senior Associate at United Multi Family, focused on connecting with investors and owners of multifamily assets throughout the Greater Boston area. Prior to joining UMF, Nick had experience in underwriting for a middle-market commercial banking portfolio, and also worked for two high-growth technology companies. He is most passionate about problem solving with his clients to deliver them the most value possible. Nick graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with dual degrees in Industrial Engineering and Economics - where he also played lacrosse. In his spare time, Nick enjoys spending time on the Cape, golfing, snowboarding, and reading all things real estate related.
Associate
jyish@umf.comJacob is an Associate at United Multi Family, focused on connecting with investors and owners of multifamily assets throughout the North Shore and Merrimack Valley. Prior to joining UMF, Jacob worked for United Postal Service as a member of their regional distribution team. He is most passionate about helping clients reach their investment goals. Jacob received his BA in Management from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, where he was also a 4-year member of the varsity baseball team. Having grown up on the North Shore, in Byfield, MA, Jacob brings a strong knowledge of the surrounding region to the UMF team.

jshertick@umf.comJoe Shertick is a Director at United Multi Family. He represents owners in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island and runs the REO Division for the company. Joe joined United Multi Family in 2003 and is the longest tenured agent at the company after the president Rich Cawley. To date for UMF, Joe has personally closed over 150 transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $80 million. Joe’s sales are highlighted by the sale of a 52-unit building in Hartford, CT for $2,300,000. Joe has been in the real estate brokerage industry since 1985, working at multiple real estate companies across the Northeast before starting at United Multi Family.
